How can we know that what we hear is truly from God? John tells us not to blindly believe every spiritual claim, but to test what we hear against the truth of Jesus and the Word of God. As followers of Christ, we can trust the Spirit who lives in us and remain firmly tethered to Scripture rather than our preferences, feelings, or the voices around us. Truth is not determined by what sounds good to us, but by what God has already said.
