Its Prophecy Fulfilled: Hymn Bible Study
Episode 13
Sunday, 26 July, 2026
This hymn Bible study unpacks "Jesus Is Coming Again," a hymn built entirely around the signs of Christ's return. In this scripture behind the hymn episode, we trace its verses back to Joel, Psalm 96, and the words of Jesus Himself in Luke 21. The hymn's imagery of earthquakes, darkened skies, and a blood-red moon isn't poetic flourish — it points to specific historical events: the 1755 Lisbon earthquake and the 1780 Dark Day. We also look at why the hymn pictures all of creation, from hilltops to oceans, joining in the announcement of Christ's coming, and close the season on "Historical Foundations of Present Truth" with a newly written verse capturing the Dark Day for those studying this hymn today. In this episode, you will hear: The Bible texts behind "lift up the trumpet" and "echo it, hilltops" How two specific 18th-century events fulfill signs Jesus and Daniel foretold Why nature is pictured rejoicing at Christ's return A new verse written to complete the hymn's prophetic picture Watch all the episodes on our Youtube channel at this link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL65y7saKkuQ03mbWZ60o_gNG0rRWVBFey
