1997: The Birth of Attitude is a new series coming in September to the Wrestling With Art Podcast Network. 1997 was a consequential year for the World Wrestling Federation. An important threshold was crossed that changed everything about the promotion's creative identity. The result was The Attitude Era. Four characters played a central role in this altered creative direction: Bret Hart, Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. The evolution of each of these core characters over the 12 months in 1997 speaks to the heart of the Attitude Era and everything it would come to represent.
