My Job Is Not Acting, It Is Auditioning: David Bowe on 9 Dead Pilots, Robert Stack, and 40 Years in Hollywood David Bowe is the character actor you know from UHF, A Few Good Men, The Rock, Air America, The Cable Guy and Mad Men, and he joins Sarah Halstead and Rich Chassler to explain why the job is not acting, it is auditioning. Over Potocki Polish rye vodka they cover forty years of Hollywood: nine pilots in eleven years that never became a series, the CBS show buried opposite Michael Jordan in the NBA Finals, why desperation never books a room, and how a student film favor for a USC kid named Shawn Levy put him in the orbit of directors worth fifteen billion dollars at the box office. David also covers his uncle Robert Stack, auditioning for Quentin Tarantino after firing the manager who sent him, a seven page rewrite that gave him flop sweat on For All Mankind, and his role in Season 2 of Presumed Innocent on Apple TV. Plus the UHF 37th anniversary screening at the Greek Theatre on Halloween. GUEST INFO David Bowe is an American character actor born in Los Angeles, best known as Bob, George Newman's sidekick, in the 1989 Weird Al Yankovic cult film UHF. Credits include A Few Good Men, The Rock, Air America, Heavyweights, The Cable Guy, Mad Men, For All Mankind and Entourage. He is the nephew of actor Robert Stack, and he has a recurring role in Season 2 of Presumed Innocent on Apple TV. On Halloween night he appears at the UHF 37th anniversary screening at the Greek Theatre, with the score played live by an orchestra and a Q&A after the film. Served as vodka and 7Up because building martinis in the studio would have been a production. David's real order is an ultra dry martini with onions and olives, or vodka and 7Up, and his first question before booking was whether they were really drinking. A special order bottle, not a supermarket vodka.
