Ich spreche mit meinen Gästen Senior VFX Supervisor Martin Hill und Lead Creatures Technical Director Jonathan Dysart von Wētā FX über die letzte Staffel von „Stranger Things“! Martin und Jono waren mit ihren Teams für die visuellen Effekte des kolossalen Finales der Netflix-Kultserie verantwortlich und verraten mir, wie sie Vecna noch bedrohlicher machten. Wer in den 1980er Jahren „The Goonies“, „Poltergeist“ oder „E.T. – Der Außerirdische“ mochte, war entzückt, als Netflix 2016 „Stranger Things“ ins Rennen um die Publikumsgunst schickte. Zugegeben: Der Markt war noch lange nicht so übersättigt, wie heutzutage. Auch zugegeben: „Stranger Things“ war schon zu Beginn mehr, als die Summe seiner nostlagisch reanimierten Teile. Der Cast war suberb, die Geschichte von den Figuren getrieben und das Genre wurde um ein paar echte Klassiker erweitert. Technische Exzellenz Fast Forward. Senior VFX Supervisor Martin Hill und Lead Creatures Technical Director Jonathan Dysart führten für Wētā FX aus Neuseeland ihre Teams in die fünfte Staffel. Hill entwickelte für James Camerons „Avatar“ das Global Illumination Lighting & Spherical Harmonics System, ein schlankes Beleuchtungssystem für die komplett virtuell entstandene Welt des Blockbusters. Dafür erhielt Hill 2014 von der AMPAS den Technical Achievement Award. Für die VFX von „Prometheus“ war für den Oscar nominiert und für „Furious 7“ ließ er den verbliechenen Paul Walker digital auferstehen. Zudem war er für die gesamte achte und letzte Staffel von „Game of Thrones“ verantwortlich. Sein Kollege Jonathan Dysart war in den letzten Jahren für „Deadpool & Wolverine“, „Better Man“ und auch „Captain America: Brave New World“ tätig.
