Kids of Immigrants: From a Pico Union Apartment to a Global Movement
Episode 8
Sunday, 20 September, 2026
In this episode of LA SERRANITA, we sit down with Daniel Buezo, co-founder of Kids of Immigrants (KOI), to talk about the people, places, friendships, and creative energy that shaped a vision that has grown into a global movement. Daniel takes us back to the early days of KOI in Los Angeles—we talk about the role LA and brotherhood played in bringing the vision to life, the importance of always supporting your friends, and the moments that helped KOI evolve along the way. From Selena for Sanctuary to collaborations with some of the world’s biggest brands, Daniel reflects on what it means to build something rooted in the experiences of first-generation Americans. Now, as Kids of Immigrants celebrates 10 years and opens the doors to its flagship space in Los Angeles, Daniel shares what this new chapter means, what he hopes the space can become for the community, and what’s next for KOI.
