Welcome to the sixteenth episode of our ongoing series: Fascism On Film. Each episode of this series, the Holmes Brothers look and review a film that has to do with fascism. During the episodes, the brothers look and see how the aspects and portrayal of fascism shown in the film relate to current and/or past events.On this Fascism on Film episode, the Holmes Brothers sit down to discuss Joseph Losey's film Mr Klein, starring Alain Delon. Alain Delon stars as the titular character Mr Klein. The film is set during France during the Nazi Occupation, in the year 1942. The storyline takes place around the same time of the Vel' d'Hiv Roundup, where Parisian Jews were arrested by the Vichy French Police. Mr Klein is a Kafkaesque tale set during the early days of the war. Klein is an apolitical art dealer who takes advantage of French Jews who sell him their artwork, in order to escape Nazi persecution. Klein's life and career gets upended by a case of mistaken identity. A Jewish man with the same name brings him to the attention of the police. Klein sets out to find this man and clear his name. The film has been released digitally and also in select cinemas in the US and the UK.
