Jo da Silva is Global Director of Sustainable Development at Arup, where she leads the company's response to the climate, biodiversity and equity crises, and is an Arup Fellow. She founded Arup International Development, bringing the firm's expertise to projects across the Global South, and has led major building, infrastructure and urban regeneration programmes worldwide, including extensive work in disaster and humanitarian settings.Jo holds an honorary doctorate in Humanitarian Engineering from Coventry University, received the Institution of Structural Engineers' Gold Medal in 2017, and was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire this year for her services to international development.
