The first band to make it big here was Split Enz with their first big hit My Mistake. Ex American singer Marcia Hines sings one of her big hits You. Two other ex New Zealanders to make it big were Max Merritt and his band the Meteors (Slipping Away) and mod dresser Dinah Lee (Reet Petite).
