The Story of Rock and Roll: S9E30
Episode 30
Thursday, 23 July, 2026
S9E30 went live from the TSORR Myoli Beach studio on 23 July 2026. It's cold and wet in Cape Town, so this show is designed to warm things up a little bit. I thought we got the Immortals back; I had Joe Bonamassa in the slot, but we ran out of time and had to cut it. These seven minutes are becoming more and more valuable every week. The Rock & Metal Time Machine needs a bigger slot; there are just too many things to play. In the Diabolical Challenge, we continued looking at final albums made by legendary bands. We looked at planned departures where the band knew that this was going to be the last album: Pink Floyd - The Final CutThe Beatles - Abbey RoadThe Police - SynchronicityDire Straits - On Every Street There was a bit of discussion on Facebook around the Pink Floyd album, saying it wasn't the final album, but the way I constructed this one was that it was the final album with the classic lineup, with Waters and Gilmore together. The classic lineup that did Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Animals, and ended with The Final Cut. The Beatles won easily in the polls, though. Thanks as always for the support.
