Perhaps there is a longing for times past found in the foods we eat. A reminder of what has transpired and made our lives possible. A story that not even historians can seem to validate, but that is so clear because of the mere existence of the dishes we eat. As if a glory from the distant past comes to the present moment as our teeth sink into every bite and each morsel fills our bodies with tangible pride that we might not even fully understand.
