Road Diary Review: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band (Crossover with JKL Media)
Episode 266
Wednesday, 14 October, 2026

Host Jesse Jackson welcomes Lou and Karen for a crossover episode between Set Lusting Bruce and JKL Media to discuss the documentary "Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band," which premiered on Hulu and Disney+ on October 25, 2025. They share reactions to its behind-the-scenes look at rehearsals, soundchecks, backstage rituals, and the expanded E Street lineup, including the horns and choir, with Karen praising Bruce's care for the fan experience while Lou finds the film energetic but too surface-level about the band members as individuals. The conversation covers Bruce seeming looser about mistakes, Little Steven stepping in as de facto musical director, the band's rituals, Jake Clemons filling Clarence's role, Patti Scialfa's reduced touring due to multiple myeloma, and the emotional "Night Shift" sequence. They also debate tour controversies including dynamic pricing, Ticketmaster, and mostly fixed setlists designed to tell a story about loss.
