On the 8th March 2022 (International Womens Day) Efeca announced the creation of a new podcast series: a platform for womens voices in sustainability. The 2022 UN theme for International Women's Day, "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow," sought to highlight the contribution of women and girls around the globe, who participate in their communities and promote climate change adaptation, mitigation, and response, in order to build a more sustainable future for all. Join our host Emily Fripp, Founding Director of Efeca for this new podcast series and platform for womens voices in sustainability. Together well help celebrate and elevate the perspectives and work of women, showcasing the role that women play in supporting sustainable livelihoods, climate change mitigation and creation of sustainable supply chains. In this episode Emily talks with Archana Soreng, a climate activist who belongs to the Khadia Tribe from Odisha, India. Archana, who was a member of the inaugural United Nations Secretary-General’s Youth Advisory Group on Climate Change from 2020–2023 and is currently a Skoll Fellow and a climate adviser to the Rockefeller Foundation, shares her journey from growing up in an indigenous community to becoming an advocate for indigenous rights, youth leadership and climate action. They discuss her work fighting for inclusive policy-making and implementation, drawing from her experience of working with indigenous communities.
